It's getting warmer outside! That's the best part about the south, spring comes right when you want it to. The weather was so great the other day that I dressed J in her new Oliver + S picnic shorts and top.
I originally purchased this pattern because I loved the shorts, and I do, I LOVE the shorts. But after sewing both, my love for the top may slightly exceed my love for the shorts. I love the construction of the top, so easy and quick. I love the elastic at the neck so you can make it without any closers, I love the 3/4 length sleeves.
Piddling around the yard.
I used an old yellow gingham mens shirt I found at Goodwill for the top. I love cutting up old clothes from thrift stores. You can usually find great inexpensive fabric there, and the best part is you don't have to prewash it. Or, should I say, you don't have to worry about not pre-washing it, because when do I ever remember to pre-wash fabric?
That last pic was from the week before, during Georgia's second epic winter storm. J couldn't wait to get out there and play in the snow.
As with every Oliver + S pattern I've made the fit has been great. 18 month size top was a perfect fit on my 17 month old.
I've started planning J's Easter Dress. I can't decide on the fabric. However, I have decided on the pattern. Oliver + S Fairytale dress.
Cute isn't it? Wait until you see the back.
I almost died when I saw that bow. I just can't get over how gloriously giant it is.
I'm thinking I might do it in a robins egg blue, with a cream bow and cream piping. Oh and maybe pleats instead of gathers?? I also think it would look amazing in eyelet lace. Decisions, decisions. At least I have plenty of time.
