This is a project I made back in November. I found this fabric at a quilting store nearby. I love this store! The owner always has a fantastic selection of quilters cotton, with really cute prints I haven't been able to find anywhere else. I knew I had to buy this fabric as soon as I saw it. I only bought 1/2 a yard which was just enough to squeeze out a little top for J.
J was being a good little model on this rainy overcast day.
J really likes playing with that glasses case. I don't even know why we give her toys when she's clearly more interested in dirt and glasses cases.
The pattern is Simplicity toddler disney princess dress 1671. Obviously I made quite a few modifications. I lengthened the bodice by like 10 inches so that it was a top instead of a full-blown dress. I did little red buttons all the way down the back so the top is easy to get on and off.
Well easy if your child doesn't act like a flailing rag doll when you're trying to get her dressed. Jane thinks it's hilarious to go completely limp and then wiggle her entire body randomly while I'm trying to get her dressed. I know she thinks it's hilarious because she giggles the entire time.
Those are her brand new red shoes she's wearing. I bought them with the intention of making an Easter dress to match. They are a little fancy for a Wednesday, but sometimes you have to be a little crazy!
On this top I made the off center peter pan collar without the button details, and the pleated puff short sleeves.
J cut her cheek the other day, hence the bandaid. It was totally my fault. I let her go down a slide and didn't catch her. Normally she's so good and going down slides by herself. But, this was a new slide she'd never ridden before. She totally flew off the slide and scratched her hands a little bit and got a decent scratch on her face. My husband who was 10 feet away was like 'why didn't you catch her?' The only reason I could give was a temporary lapse of all logic. I think that's what having kids does to you. You just forget things, or stop thinking momentarily with no explanation. I hate to think what I'll be like when I have another one, haha!
Well that's it for now. Hopefully the next post will be how I finished (and sent) all the baby shower gifts I have yet to sew!
