Lately...

Things have been a little busy with traveling, sick kids, and buying a house.  We are closing on our new house on Friday.  I am SO EXCITED!  I can't wait to get settled in our new place, but there is so much that needs to happen before we get to that point, it's a little overwhelming!

Poor J has a double ear infection.  So she's been pretty clingy and I think we've watched The Little Mermaid 15 times.

Over the last 2 weeks we've managed to see both sids of the family.  We went to Iowa a weekish ago for my mom's graduation.  My mom graduated from the University of Iowa with her Masters in Religious Studies and I am very proud and very excited for her.  But I can't lie,  I'm so excited that she has a little more free time!  I love being able to talk to her on the phone and that was difficult to do very often when she was working hard on her thesis.

After Iowa we drove over to Nashville to visit my husbands side of the family. We had a blast with them like always.  Unfortunately J got sick our first day there so that was hard.  We were still able to do some fun things and spend a lot of time just hanging out, which is my favorite thing to do anyways.

We have a few more big trips coming up; Grand Caymen, Seattle, Hilton Head, Hawaii.  So plenty of pictures to come.  But, right now we need to discuss something tragic.

No, not the messy state of my sewing room (although that is embarrassing), but the fact that my sewing machine is broken.

My poor Bernina is making some unusual noises. I need to take it in to get serviced, but a double ear infections and driving to the sewing machine repair shop 40 mins away don't mesh well.

Hopefully I can get it over there soon because I have a lot of sewing that needs to happen.  None of the least of which is finishing this white ruffled crib skirt for my friend Meggan who just had her cute baby girl.

Because I haven't been sewing I needed to find some other kind of creative outlet.  I've seen these little water color family portraits floating around pinterest, so I decided to try to make one this morning during nap time.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The best part was how fun it was.  I'm excited to frame it and hang it up somewhere in our new place.

Well, that's it for now. Happy Wednesday!
