It's been a little while since I blogged, and even longer since I've blogged about sewing. I blame our busy summer. For everyone that's curious here is a list of what we've been up to.
1. Flew to Iowa for my moms graduation. Way to go mom, or should I say...Master!
2. Looked at a bajillion houses
3. Found a house we loved, made an offer
4. Drove to Nashville for a quick visit
5. Closed on said house
6. Flew to Grand Caymen for a quick mini trip with my parents
The pic on the right is our family on this giant round bed chair at our hotel in Caymen. It looked comfortable so naturally we all laid on it together. I could have spent the week laying on that circle bed thing.
7. Packed and moved into new house
8. Flew to Seattle for my cousin Jim and his wife Carmens' wedding
Apparently I really love that maroon button-up shirt.
9. Drove to Nashville again for bro. in-law Joe's graduation. Way to go Joe!
10. Drive to Hilton head for a week long Johnson family trip (this hasn't happened yet)
All of that plus trying to fix a broken AC, dishwasher, and sewing machine.
It's been crazy.
I did have some time to make these though...
I needed some wall decor for J's bathroom. I found the frames at goodwill and painted them white. I loved how they turned out. I used this tutorial.
When we go to Hilton Head we are taking family pictures, so I decided that now was a good time to cut J's hair. I had cut her bangs myself about 6 months ago, but it was time for a legitimate haircut.
Here is her crazy hair before the cut.
During the cut. She wasn't super excited. She tolerated it for a few minutes and then kind of lost it at the end.
And after! So much better!
Side note: J was covered in hair clippings so I had her take a bath, during which she pooped. Of course. Then while I was cleaning it up I slipped and splashed poopy bath water all over my face. Totally had poop water in my mouth. It was awesome.
I'm really happy with how it turned out. When we got home I couldn't stop myself. I had to style it a little bit. She's really good at letting me do her hair. I definitely won't do it like this everyday, but it will be nice to be able to style it for the family pictures.
After this last trip to Hilton Head things should really slow down. I have a mile long list of things I want to sew for myself and for J. I can't wait for cooler weather. Fall clothes are so much more fun, and when it's colder I'll totally have an excuse to make this cape for J. Can't wait!
Now please excuse me while I go sanitize J's bathroom.
