About a month ago we blessed baby boy in church. About a week before I still didn't have anything to bless him in. Michael wanted me to make something, but I was kind of tired and I just didn't think I could make the time. I decided to look online at some christening/blessing baby boy outfits and not only could I not find anything I like, I really didn't feel like spending $50-80 for something I didn't love. Even if I had found something I loved, there was no way it would get to me in time for that Sunday. So I decided my only option was to make him something after all.
That morning I looked through my patterns and my fabric stash and low and behold I had a pattern I really liked and some nice white cotton. I even had the buttons in my stash. What could have cost me $50+ ended up being free. I love it when that happens. Usually I end up spending ridiculous amounts of money on waaaayyyyy less important pieces of clothing.
The pattern I used was McCall M6221. I made the newborn size even though A was 2 months old when he wore this. McCall kids patterns always run huge in my opinion.
He's a much more willing model than his sister. It's so much easier when they can't run away ; )
I love the subtle details in this outfit, there's enough to keep it interesting but not too much.
A is 3 months old now and he's pretty strong. He's not a very squishy baby. Holding him actually feels like you're holding a flexed muscle sometimes. He was constantly moving and rolling around when I was pregnant with him. Right after I had him the midwife showed me that he had managed to tie a knot in the umbilical cord. It's got to take some strength to do enough flipping around to tie a knot in your own umbilical cord.
He's turning into such a smiley, happy, sweet little boy. I love this age so much and it's so much easier to soak it all in and enjoy it when it's your second. We are so blessed to have him in our family!
Next project on the to do list is Christmas pajama's for J and A. I am so freaking excited to sew them, I just have to wait for my fabric to get shipped. I definitely was not as thrifty this time around. I really really had to get the designer organic cotton for the pajama pants. I had to. It was a NEED.
