We have finally recovered from Christmas/New Years and the post holiday quest for fitness and health is underway. I had lost some of the baby weight and then promptly gained it all back during the holidays, so now I have Christmas weight, and baby weight to lose. Awesome. I guess that's what you get when you eat whatever you want for a month ; )
Before Christmas I made J some t-shirts. There isn't much to say besides I love my serger and the Anytime At All Tee pattern is great! So many variations! I love it.
The first was a coraly pink top with a floral print on the back and 3/4 length sleeves. I think this is J's favorite.
Next a long-sleeved top that matches the one I made for her brother. The bottom picture is J with her cousin who came to visit this weekend. It's hard to tell in this picture but they have mascara all over their eyes. I found J giving her a makeover in the toy room. It could have been worse. I got after her, but clearly she wasn't that broken up about it.
And last a black and red plaid top with "up" sleeves as J calls them. I decided to put a little ruffle on this one to make it a little more girly.
These are the first t-shirts I've made for J that I really like. They have held up really well, thanks to my new (mom's old) serger and the good quality fabric I bought from Girl Charlee. J wears them a lot and so that always makes me feel good.
Our Christmas was really busy. We spent Christmas at our house with my siblings, bro-in-law, and parents. Then we all headed over to Alabama to visit grandparents, aunt/uncle, and cousins. We had a few days to recover and then headed to Montana for New Years with my family for a week. It was busy and the flight to Montana turned into a 12 hour fiasco of delayed flights and sad tired children. Everything was so fun despite that, and it's been hard to come back to real life after that whirlwind!
This pile of presents were about as tall as J.
Mom helping J with her new mermaid nightgown from Santa. My brother Sam is holding A.
J got a bunch of stuff, but her two favorite gifts are a stuffed Sully and Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc...
and a complete ballet outfit, with a tutu, leotard, and ballet slippers from grandma.
I think the highlight of everyone in my family's holiday was going to Montana. We stayed in a cute little cabin in Red Lodge, Montana. It was snowy, cold, relaxing and fun.
That is until we watched Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window and then discovered a secret door to a creepy basement where the lights were already on. But other than that it was really relaxing.
This is a turkey. Picture courtesy of my husband who took it with the new camera I got him. Behind the cabin lived tons of turkeys. They actually slept in the trees during the night and would hop down in the morning. It was ridiculous, these giant turkeys on little tree branches 20 feet in the air.
We went snowshoeing while we were there.
J was only slightly traumatized by riding in the sled during the snowshoeing experience. It kept tipping slightly side to side and it was just freaking her out. At one point I was convinced she was going to plunge into an icy creek right off the trail during the walk.
We all made it out alive. If you look closely you can see me carrying my giant 5-month-old in a baby carrier because I'm hardcore. Just kidding, but baby A really is huge.
We also went skiing which was so much fun, and J got to go for the first time! Her little skis were the cutest thing I have ever seen.
A few days later we went for another walk. This time without the snow shoes and the traumatizing sled.
Despite what it looks like I was not carrying a tiny version of my dad in the baby carrier.
Everything was awesome until we saw several of these....
They were most definitely bear paw prints and I totally feared for our lives. I was ready to turn back but everyone assured me that we would be fine. J even said "a bear won't eat you mom, I promise".
In the end she was right, a bear did not eat us.

My wonderful family (minus Sam who had to leave a day early)! My husband Michael holding our son, my brother-in-law Sergio, my sister Mary, J, and my mom and dad.
Thanks mom and dad for making all of these trips happen!
